The coins are absolutely adorable. As for the notes, when I saw pictures of them I didn't like them.

How long will the process of mopping up the old notes take?

@ overwhelmed Thanks....HAPPY MARCH girl! You don't remember the 1 Naira? I'll keep a coin for ya... remind me to give it to you whenever we c :-)

@ Azuka, I do like the coins... You need to see Charles Soludo's signature on the notes... DANG! Beautiful I tell ya! I really can't tell how long the process of mopping up the old notes will take.. is there a scientific way to tell in 9ja? And Yeah!!! You got that right.. it's spot on... IBIM is the answer! How do you know? We should be saying Kedu and Odinma going by your name!

@ Exschoolnerd... have I? I thought I'd improved?? Oh my! And yeah, I do like the new notes... I'm sure you like the 20 Naira cos of that transparent thing on the side eh?? Me too! heard the 50 is like that too but I've not seen it yet! I wish they'd reduce all the other notes to that size!

The new naira notes are kinda cool. I was skeptical at first but seeing them and touching them - not bad at all - especially the magic N20 note....

Loving the music choices...

i like the coins o but the paper ones look like monopoly money o , thanks for visiting my blog and for the bday wish

Chxta said...

I gather that the new notes have already come under attack. Nigeria...!

♥♫♪nyemoni♫♪♥ said...

@ azuka Wimpey is near my home in PH!! Near the market Junction... small world oh!
@ bhookey no problem o! LMAO @ your reference to monopoly money...
@ Chxta was it the thingy about the arabic inscriptions being removed from the notes or the 'marginalization' of the minorities due to the Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba translation of the amounts on each note? Tsk, Tsk *shakes head*

Chxta said...

Interesting piece of information, those inscriptions weren't Arabic, they were Hausa. But then, most Nigerians allow our religious intolerance and ignorance to get the better of our thinking...

♥♫♪nyemoni♫♪♥ said...

No, seriously Chxta, it's arabic... apparently the sultan asked why the arabic inscription was removed...etc.. I will send you a list later...

Well what will happen to those excess naira my mama gave me when I dey come? I was planning that the day I sneak into Nigeria I would get by with it, apparently I'm at a loss now? buhahah
But I think I like the older ones better and the coins? I dont think its necessary , wasting money!!

♥♫♪nyemoni♫♪♥ said...

LMAO @ the excess naira... Please send it to me fast!!! You like the older ones better? I'm surprised... maybe if you see them you'll change your mind?? Meanwhile, I heard the new notes are cheaper to mint than the old...
